Former British number one, Greg Rusedski believes that young
Jack Draper can finish in the top-10 in 2025. The 22-year-old is already
regarded as one of the most talented players currently playing in men’s tennis
in the singles category.
Draper has had a fabulous year where he played his maiden
semifinal of a Grand Slam in New York. The reigning world number 15 lost to the
world number one Jannik Sinner in the last-four clash of the US Open with a
score of 7-5, 7-6, 6-2. That’s not it as Draper also went on to lift his maiden
ATP 500 title in Vienna where he defeated Karen Khachanov of Russia in the final
in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 7-5.
Draper’s most recent appearance was in the Parsi Masters
where his journey ended in the quarterfinals where he lost to Australia’s Alex
de Minaur with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. Former Britain’s number one Rusedski,
who also played in the final of the US Open in 1997, has recently spoken to The
Tennis Channel where he talked about Draper in detail. The 51-year-old stated
that there is no reason why the Sutton-born star cannot finish in the top-10,
even top-five in the
ATP Rankings next year.
“He has game. Big lefty, big serve, unbelievable return,
great strokes,” he said. “He has improved his transition game coming forward. I
think he is one of those guys who is definitely going to be in the top 10 in
2025 and right now he is coming into form really well. Everybody doesn’t talk
about his backhand. How good his two handed backhand is. There’s not really any
weaknesses from the back of the court with the explosive forehand. If he can
progress the way he did this year and then progress in the off season and get
even stronger physically, watch out 2025. There is no reason why he can’t climb
into the top five, the first 10, then you go by single digits.”
