Italian Tennis Federation President
Angelo Binaghi believes that
Jannik Sinner still has a lot of room to improve.
The 22-year-old is often regarded
as one of the best young talent available in the men’s singles tennis currently
playing in the circuit alongside Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and America’s Ben
Shelton.
However, Binaghi was recently quoted
in a report where he stated that there is definitely room for improvement in
the game of Sinner, who according to him is a ‘less complete’ player than other
highly-rated youngsters.
"Sinner's fortune lies in his
weaknesses,” he said. “He is a much less complete player than the three ahead
of him. The fact that he continues to have endurance limits or needs to improve
aspects, such as his service and smash, tells us that there is room for further
growth."
Sinner has had a mixed year at the
highest level where despite playing in the main round of all the Grand Slams,
he only managed to qualify for the quarterfinal or beyond on just one occasion.
His most impressive outing in a
major event in 2023 came while playing at Wimbledon where he lost the semifinal
to the current world number one and Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak
Djokovic in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6.
