With the Big Three era rapidly coming to an end, tennis legend Martina Navratilova believes Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will lead the next tennis generation, even going as far as to predict the minimum number of Grand Slam titles to be won by the rising tennis stars.
Sinner won his second Grand Slam title on Sunday, when he defeated Taylor Fritz to lift the US Open trophy in New York. The Italian has had a spectacular year on hard courts, winning the Australian Open title earlier this season. With two Grand Slam titles under his belt, the World No.1 trails rival Alcaraz by two, as the Spaniard has won four Grand Slam titles in his young career.
Despite being only 23 and 21 years old respectively, Sinner and Alcaraz have already won six Majors between them. This number puts them among the elite in active players, with Novak Djokovic still leading the pact at an almost insurmountable 24 Grand Slam singles titles.
When asked how far the young tennis stars could go, Navratilova did not mince words as she spoke on their potential.
"I think Sinner should aim to win at least 10 Grand Slam titles," postulated Navratilova in an interview with Sky Sport. "And I would say the same for Alcaraz, the only thing that can stop them are injuries, otherwise they should be able to get past ten Majors."
