Dominic Thiem is back in the top 200 of the world after playing a couple of solid events with the latest being the Gstaad Open.
Thiem played well in Gstaad losing in the semifinals to Matteo Berrettini. The endeavour got the Austrian 90 points which allowed him to renter the top 200. The slide Thiem experienced was due to the wrist injury that left him unable to play for over a year. It's been a good couple of weeks for Thiem who did not have a Tour-level win until Bastad.
His first one was a comeback win over Emil Ruusuvuori where he was down 2-0 in the final set. He then added another win before losing in the quarterfinal. In Gstaad, he did even better by reaching the semifinals and now he'll have a chance to do even better than Kitzbuhel. Ruud and Berrettini pulled out so Thiem is certainly hoping for a strong showing.
The 2019 Kitzbuhel champion could really use a title on home soil to kickstart his return to the top 100 as well as to keep building confidence ahead of the US Open. Check out the rest of the rankings in our
