Round 1 shake-up! Pablo Andujar takes out two-time Roland Garros finalist Dominic Thiem in five sets.
Dominic Thiem saw his French Open campaign end in tatters during the opening round against Pablo Andujar with the victor coming from 2-0 down in sets to claim the victory.
For Thiem, it is now back to the drawing board after a poor spell of form but the Austrian admitted post match that ‘something is different’ after his US Open win and that has been a catalyst for this downturn.
“It’s amazing to reach such a big goal but at the same time something is different after,” Thiem said.
But for the World Number Four, there was also a sense of a confidence crisis as he doesn’t know when he will snap out of this bad run.
“As I said before the start of the tournament, it’s a big learning process and despite the loss that hurts so much I hope I can bounce back stronger than before.
“But, right now, I don’t know when that moment is coming.”
