Former world No. 3
Dominic Thiem revealed he hasn't yet tested negative for COVID-19 and he still remains in a Marbella hotel.
On Tuesday, Thiem made his long-awaited comeback at the Marbella Challenger but his return was spoiled by Cachin who bested him in two sets. Thiem, who sustained a wrist injury at the Mallorca Open last June slowly made his back to tennis delaying his return a couple of times due to not feeling confident enough about playing.
His return took to the worse on Wednesday when he announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He now gave an update writing:
"Hey there, first of all, thanks a lot for all your nice recovery wishes. I'm still here in Marbella. I'm in my hotel room. Had another COVID-19 test and unfortunately, it's still positive. But I'm feeling quite well, just mild symptoms. A little bit tired but I hope that the test is going to be negative soon again."
He was supposed to play in Marrakech next week having been awarded a wild card entry but recently he updated everyone by saying he is still testing positive. It means he won't take part in Marrakech next week which is disappointing for him as he is in need of matches.
