Frances
Tiafoe expressed his disappointment over his loss to
Alexander Zverev in the
third round of the
French Open.
In the
third round of
Roland Garros,
Frances Tiafoe was left disappointed after being
defeated in four sets by Alexander Zverev. The American has never advanced past
the third round of the French Open, and this year he had a good chance to go
further in the second Grand Slam of the year.
"I'm
an easygoing guy, obviously, but this is going to hurt for a while. I really
feel I let the opportunity slip away, to be really honest with you. This is
going to hurt a lot," Tiafoe claimed.
"All I
really care about are the biggest events in the world, especially the Slams. I
want to try to win one. Two slams and two third rounds, very disappointing for
me."
'Big Foe'
lamented not taking advantage of the opportunities he had to extend the match
to a fifth set and being inconsistent in his game.
"Especially
with all the opportunities I had. I mean, I really feel like I was the better
player tonight. I let it go. So that’s the name of the game. Some loose points,
some ups and downs. He kind of stayed with it."
"It’s
inexcusable for me to lose. A bunch of shots that I don’t miss and am missing.
It’s just tough. I should be playing the fifth right now."
"My
section of the draw really opened up. I really feel I let the opportunity slip
away, to be really honest with you," he concluded.
