This June, Roger Federer will compete at Roland Garros for the 18th time, deciding to embrace the clay swing and compete in Geneva and Paris.
Speaking about the Swiss, Andy Roddick said that Roger must have thought twice before making his schedule, especially at this stage of his career and the most extended break after two knee surgeries. Roddick believes that this should be Roger's last Roland Garros appearance if he doesn't feel fit.
"Roger has not played events that he's not ready to play throughout his career. He's been fine sitting out weeks, months. Especially late in his career, he's been very pragmatic about his schedule. At this point in his career, he wants to play in front of his home crowd in Geneva and at Roland Garros. Maybe he doesn't know what next year brings.
If he's not feeling fit, this says he wants a chance to potentially say goodbye to Roland Garros if next year doesn't happen. That's something we don't know at this point. But, completely out of character for Roger and his team to go into something without feeling prepared," Andy Roddick said.
