Stefanos Tsitsipas and
Garbine Muguruza are through to
Roland Garros round 3 following victories Thursday.
Stefanos Tsitsipas stepped out on the Roland Garros clay to face
Pablo Cuevas following the scare he had in round 1. This time around he was much better and played a strong match never leaving any doubt as to who might win the match. The first set was a strong and quick one. The end result was 6-1 and Cuevas had no idea how to parry Stefanos. The 2nd set was a good effort by Cuevas but once again the Greek found a way to break through his defence.
The result was 6-4 and it looked like he will be through with ease. And he left no doubt about his commitment to the match with another strong showing in the 3rd set winning it by 6-2 in just 28 minutes.
Garbine Muguruza had a strong display as well at the Roland Garros today defeating Pliskova in straight sets. The first set was a strong one from the Spaniard as she broke Pliskova twice to win it 6-3. She played very aggressively hitting 19 winners compared to only 13 errors. That aggression was too much to handle for Pliskova who tallied 24 unforced errors.
The 2nd set was more of the same as Muguruza player her game once more hitting winners left and right while minimalizing the number of errors committed. It was more than enough for a convincing 6-3 6-2 victory.
