Stefanos Tsitsipas cited
Novak Djokovic as his role model because, in his mind, the Serbian was the one to reach the highest level of tennis on the Tour which is what he aspires to do.
Tsitsipas suffered yet another brutal loss just over a week ago when Djokovic beat him in the Australian Open final. The Serbian proved ruthless largely cruising to the finish line despite playing with an injury. It's the sort of level, Tsitsipas wants to reach one day and that's why he takes him as a role model:
I take Djokovic as an example, who for the last few years we thought he had reached the highest level that tennis has to offer and every year he shows that he is even better than the year before. This inspires me and I have him as a role model at this time."
Talking about his tennis, Tsitsipas confirmed he made some changes in order to reach that level that Djokovic has:
Mechanically some small things I've changed that help me find the corners of the court better, mainly in serving placement. I have improved it a lot and it comes from the shafts of the arm, the elbow. They are small technical changes that I made in the preseason and I have dedicated myself to them to reach perfection if possible, or as close to it as possible because I don't think there is perfection."
