Stefanos Tsitsipas Australian Open 2021
Stefanos Tsitsipas passed the Khachanov test with flying colours as the Greek defeated the silver medallist 6-3 6-2 to move to the quarterfinals.
Another significant quarterfinal for Stefanos Tsitsipas happened as the Greek superstar hit his way past the in-form Khachanov. Tsitsipas arrived in Toronto in very shaky form with diminished confidence visible in his game however the Greek is picking up some steam in the Canadian city.
The first set against Khachanov was a very interesting one that saw Tsitsipas playing extremely good tennis from start to finish. Khachanov did not serve well (55%) which allowed a lot of opportunities for Tsitsipas. Midway through the first set he took the 3-1 lead and never looked back (6-3 finish).
Both players served better in the 2nd set but once again it was Tsitsipa who simply better. Khachanov is capable from the baseline but the Greek possess the bigger weapons (especially on the forehand) which proved decisive.
He took the break once more and from there served out the match with 6-2. Tsitsipas faced only one break point all match long and it was in the first set. He moves to the quarterfinals looked very solid and hungry for a big result.
