Andy Murray in the second round of
Wimbledon after an overnight suspension.
In a closely contested match, Murray and Tsitsipas engaged in a five-set encounter that included a suspension. In the first set, both players started strong on their serves, defending them without conceding any break points to their opponent. In the twelfth game, Andy Murray faced his first break point of the match, but Tsitsipas couldn't capitalize, leading to a tie-break.
Tsitsipas dominated the tie-break and won it 7-6(3). He recorded 5 aces, 21 winners, and 10 unforced errors. On the other side, Murray had 3 aces, 11 winners, and only 5 unforced errors. Murray quickly gained an advantage in the third set by breaking Tsitsipas' serve to love in the first game. He saved two break points against him in the fourth game and maintained the lead to win the third set 6-4. At this point, the match was suspended due to the 11 pm curfew.
On the following day, Tsitsipas won the two remaining sets and turned the match around against the former world No. 1. Both players fought hard without giving any advantages and reached the tie-break without conceding break points. However, Tsitsipas prevailed in the tie-break and took the match to a deciding set.
After an intense battle lasting 4 hours and 43 minutes, Tsitsipas secured a break of serve in the third game of the final set, which proved to be enough to clinch the victory. In the third round, he will face Serbian player Laslo Djere, who caused an upset by defeating Ben Shelton in the opening round.
