World number one
Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive run
in
Wimbledon with another thumping win on Friday.
The 20-year-old secured a win in straight sets against France’s
Alexandre Muller in the second round with a score 6-4, 7-6, 6-3.
Alcaraz was dominant from the word go as he went on to win
the first set with a score of 6-4. He won 67 percent service points in the process.
In the second set, the 2022 US Open winner eventually came
out on top in the tiebreaker. While doing that, he produced 13 winners, five
more than his opponent.
The third set was more a replica of the first set where the top-seeded player was just too good for his opponent. He won 91 percent points on the first serve in the process.
The result means that Alcaraz is now just a win away from
equaling his best record while playing at Wimbledon of qualifying in the fourth round.
The last time when he played in the round of 16 was in 2022
where he suffered a defeat to Italy’s Jannik Sinner with a score of 6-1, 6-4,
6-7, 6-3.
Alcaraz will now face the winner of the match between Jason
Kubler and Nicolas Jarry in the round of 32.
