Usually a place of sun and dubbed Tennis Paradise, Indian Wells has wrangled with that moniker this week with rain being an issue at times and also extreme winds as they found out during the Daniil Medvedev v Arthur Fils match.

During the showdown between the pair, heavy winds took hold. This made the line officials decide to halt the game on a few occasions. Medvedev secured his spot in the semi-finals for a third straight year as he aims for another revival after poor form recently.

He won 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(7). The match saw interruptions due to 60km/h winds which scattered debris across the court. In a scene that looked like it was from a disaster movie, Fils had to prevent a drink cooler from being carried away. A ball kid also was seen holding down objects that were being blown away by the wind.

Despite the interruptions, Medvedev wasn't fazed and sealed the win but it was certainly some sight on Thursday night.
