Greece’s tennis star
Stefanos Tsitsipas asked the umpire to
remove a fan who was trying to interrupt him by imitating a bee.
The incident took place during the
Cincinnati Open (Southern
& Wester Open) second-round clash on Wednesday.
Tsitsipas complained to the umpire that a fan was trying to
interrupt him by imitating a bee and that she must be removed.
"There's a person imitating a bee behind me. It's a
buzz right before I serve," he said in a video posted on social media. “It
has never happened in my career. I know they're supporting the [other player].
It's the lady over there, I want her out. She needs to go... when I'm about to
serve, all I hear is [bzzz]."
The lady eventually apologised to the current world number
four who went on to win the match in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
Tsitsipas will now face Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the round
of 16 clash of the tournament on Thursday.
The 25-year-old will be hoping to extend his run in the ongoing
competition after suffering a surprise defeat in the round of 32 of the
National Bank Canadian Open earlier this month.
