Rafael Nadal had his first time violation back on court after his near year off in a hilarious moment at the 2024 Brisbane International against Jason Kubler as he laughed it off and the umpire himself cracked a smile.
Nadal took a toilet break between sets but took a bit too long, which forced the umpire's hand and Kubler was also laughing as he was given it. The Spaniard was utterly superb against the Aussie winning in two sets and will now face Jordan Thompson for a spot in the semi-finals.
Umpire Arnaud Gabas briefly tried explaining why he was giving him the violation and Nadal questioned him but the umpire didn't change his mind. He announced it briefly before and said that he was taking a bit of time getting back from the toilet which raised a chuckle in the crowd.
"Ladies and gentleman, Rafael Nadal was a little bit late on his way back from the toilet, then he is received one time violation. Time violation. Warning, Mr. Nadal."
Rafael Nadal is back in business in court and back raising smiles both with his play and also with his antics in this case. It didn't hamper him though as he won in two easy sets in Brisbane.
