Tommy Paul's opener at the
Miami Open had a horrific ending for the American Number Two as the 13th seed rolled his ankle for a second time in just over a week and had to retire against Martin Damm Jr.
The American youngster who is making his debut in this tournament and is the son of the legendary ATP doubles player was 6-4 down, but 2-1 up in the second set when Paul scampered to return at the net and rolled his ankle falling to the floor next to his chair.
He soon retired and he did similar last week at Indian Wells as he went 6-1 up on Medvedev and got injured before losing the last two sets 7-6, 6-2 in a landmark run as he reached the semi-finals but this week was an even more horrific outcome than last time. He will hope it is not a serious injury as a busy clay court season approaches.
