Yibing Wu won his first title in America earlier this season but had to retire from his opening round in Washington
DC Open in scary scenes.
With the hot conditions in Washington, it took its toll as he was forced to retire after collapsing.
The Chinese trailblazer was 4-1 up against Watanuki, but wandered back to his chair between ends. He felt faint and while trying to sit down went over the chair into a heap.
He had to be dragged to the floor and promptly taken off court.
Fan reaction saw one comment saying that it is the fault of those wanting TV matches and that it will continue to happen until someone dies of heatstroke.
As well as another comparing it to the 2021 Olympics which saw many go out early and struggle with the conditions.
Best wishes to Yibing Wu after a scary end to his match.
