Carlos Alcaraz gave a series of press conferences with Spanish media after winning the Wimbledon title against Novak Djokovic. In one of them, on Cadena Cope, he was asked what had been different for him with respect to the defeat against the Serbian at Roland Garros. His answer may surprise many of you:
"For example, in the final you realize that I have already lived that situation, that I had already lived those nerves, it is not something new, it helps you to manage that situation in a different way. After the first set I thought, 'well, Charlie, try to do something to make the final entertaining for the spectators;
The next question from Mansilla, Juanma Castaño's substitute on Cope's Partidazo nights, was whether he fears anything at the moment. His answer was blunt:
"Not right now, at the professional level I am not afraid of anything or anyone. I'm a guy who thinks he can continue making history, that he can beat any player in any possible scenario and the truth is that right now I'm not afraid of anything or anyone".
As to whether he is the favorite for the US Open, a tournament he is defending after winning in 2022, he does not hide and makes it clear that his goal is to win it again:
"I don't know if I'm the big favorite, but I'm one of the favorites to win the US Open. There are still several months left in which anything can happen, right now there are 2 Masters 1000 ahead in which we are focused. It is true that the US Open is a very special tournament, we are very fond of it and we will try to win it again".
