The 11-time Barcelona Open champion
Rafael Nadal will chase the 12th title at one of his favorite tournaments between April 19-25, standing as the top favorite to lift the trophy.
The tournament director David Ferrer said that Nadal's appearance is always very important for this event, especially after it had to be canceled a year ago. Praising his compatriot, Ferrer honored Nadal as a unique figure of our sport. Nadal made a debut in Barcelona in 2003 at 16 and became the leading figure since 2005, suffering only four losses and becoming the tournament's ultimate legend.
The center court carries Rafael Nadal's name, and the great Spaniard will try to win the trophy for the 12th time and continue where he left in 2018. Two years ago, Nadal lost to Dominic Thiem in the semis after a great battle.
"Rafa's presence in Barcelona is significant for the tournament, and he will be even more so after the cancellation of last year's edition. What Nadal has done throughout his career is something amazing and unique.
We must explain to all the fans that what we have seen with this player will not be repeated. Rafa is a legend of this sport, and we have to enjoy him while we can," David Ferrer said.
