Casper Ruud recently celebrated his wedding in Mallorca, Spain, taking advantage of the European summer and a few days off for the Norwegian player after the French Open and before Wimbledon.
The three-time Grand Slam finalist had welcomed his first daughter back in January, and this time he tied the knot, receiving greetings and advice from his colleagues. Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Bublik were among the married players on Tour who left their good wishes and advice for Ruud after his wedding.
Other players who are still single, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, or the engaged Alex de Minaur, also shared their messages of goodwill for a rival widely respected for his sportsmanship on Tour.
Ruud’s last appearance on Tour came at the end of May, when he reached the fourth round of Roland Garros. In a tight battle, he lost in four sets to Brazilian player João Fonseca, ending his tournament and closing his clay swing. He chose not to compete in tournaments leading up to Wimbledon and used the gap in his schedule to marry María Galligani.

Tour colleagues celebrate Ruud’s new life chapter

Beyond rivalries on the ATP Tour, his colleagues did not miss the opportunity to send their best wishes to Ruud in this new stage of his life, also adding some jokes from those who compete with him week after week around the world.
“Dear Casper, I’ve been married for six years already, and I have to tell you one thing. Remember that you’re always wrong,” said Bublik humorously in an ATP video compiling messages from his peers. “You have to always apologize. Even if you’re right, you’re wrong. That’s a secret,” added the Kazakh player, who has been married since 2021.
Former World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov also joked after his congratulations, noting that he was not invited to the wedding. “Hey, Casper, congratulations first on the baby. I think that’s the best part about it. Wishing you an amazing wedding. I suppose I’m not invited, but hey, wishing you a lifetime of happiness, and I’m going to see you for the foreseeable future.”

Djokovic leads messages from married players

Among the married players, one of the most notable examples of family life is Novak Djokovic, married since 2014 to Jelena, with whom he has two children: Stefan (11 years old) and Tara (8 years old). The 24-time Grand Slam champion said he had no advice for his colleague but still left his best wishes.
“Would like to congratulate you. You’re entering a new chapter of your relationship, of your love, and of your lives,” said the former world No. 1. “It is the most beautiful chapter, but also the most challenging chapter. So I have zero advice. I just wish you good luck.”

Another former World No. 1 who sent greetings was Daniil Medvedev, married since 2021 to Daria and father of two daughters: Alisa, three years old, and Victoria, one year old. “Casper, congrats a lot on your marriage. Hope it works out well for you. It’s a lot of work, but a lot of fun. And hope you guys have a blast.”

Musetti, De Minaur and peers add personal wishes

Lorenzo Musetti also sent his congratulations. Although he is not married, he has two children with his long-time partner Veronica Confalonieri. “It’s more about loving each other and creating a strong relationship. I would want to wish a good future for her daughter, Camila, and for being such a good couple on and off the court. Ciao.”
Alex de Minaur—engaged to British player Katie Boulter, with wedding plans set for 2027—also left his congratulations to Ruud. “Nothing but the best, my friend. Hopefully you’ve got a life full of happiness and enjoyment,” he said. “And just make sure to give yourself a little bit of time to play golf. That’s the most important thing.”

Alcaraz and Sinner close with final messages

The two best players in the world in recent years, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, also shared their words for Ruud and his wife María, wishing them a happy life together and a strong future.
“Casper, congratulations on getting married. Enjoy the day. Enjoy that beautiful moment with your family and your close people,” said Alcaraz in the video. “You’re a beautiful family, and I wish you always nothing but the best.”
In the same way, Italian player and current world No. 1 Jannik Sinner congratulated his colleague. “Casper, first of all, congrats. I wish you a beautiful wedding. A new chapter for you has arrived,” said the four-time Grand Slam champion. “Also being a father, so I wish you only the best. You’re a good man, and you have a beautiful family. Ciao, ciao.”
