The Chile Open in Santiago continues onto it's second day with a bumper set of matches set to take place later this evening and we take a look at some of the most intriguing ones.
Andrej Martin and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina begin proceedings out on Court 1. Martin reached the semi-finals in Cordoba; but didn't win at all in Buenos Aires or Rio not backing up what he showed to begin the Golden Swing.
Davidovich Fokina though has not had a brilliant month; despite his promise losing in qualifying at the Argentina Open; before then losing to Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round in Rio. Will Martin use his experience to his advantage at the Chile Open?
Salvatore Caruso and Jozef Kovalik is also one of the top ties of the day. The former reached the third round at Roland Garros on the clay last season; so is seemingly at ease with the surface but this hasn't translated into his form this year.
He lost in qualifying at Buenos Aires and in Rio. Kovalik though reached the second round in the former tournament so it depends which player turns up on the day in this one.
Filip Horanksy and Juan Pablo Varillas will also do battle on Day 2. The former has been playing well in qualifying for the Golden Swing events but has not won a match yet in the first round. He is facing a lucky loser though in Varillas who has had success on the Challenger Tour but not on the ATP Tour. Without much wins behind either players belt, it's hard to call.
Pedro Sousa is playing some of his best tennis right now and he takes on Renzo Olivo in Round 1. Sousa reached the final at the Argentina Open despite being beaten there by Caspur Ruud.
Olivo has pedigree on this surface but is about to drop out of the top 300 so it could be a continuation of his good form for Sousa.
The likes of Federico Delbonis and Thiago Monteiro who are seventh and eighth seed respectively will also be in action.
