Alex Corretja joined the messages of support for the Spanish city of Valencia amidst a historic catastrophe. Spaniards have faced a meteorological phenomenon known as DANA, which caused torrential rains, equivalent to a year’s worth of rainfall in some areas, resulting in floods that have devastated entire towns.
Thousands of people have been trapped, with over 200 reported dead. The tragedy has shocked Spain and the entire world. In the days prior,
Paula Badosa encouraged fans to make donations for those affected, while
Rafael Nadal also sent his best wishes to the Spanish people.
This time, former world No. 2 Alex Corretja, also a former captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team between 2012 and 2013, added his voice to the support. The 50-year-old ex-tennis player joined a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he shared a photo with a gesture of solidarity for those affected in Valencia by the Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA).
“Our friend from Valencia @JORGEMIRMAYOR has encouraged us to make this small gesture in support of all the people of Valencia and surrounding areas, V! All my love and affection, VALENCIA 💔🖤,” Corretja posted.
