Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev teamed up in a losing effort during the opening clash of the
World Tennis League final as Eagles battle Kites. But the 16-year-old prodigy certainly showed her undoubted skills in the clash.
In an entertaining contest, it was Paula Badosa and the returning
Stefanos Tsitsipas who just edged it. But Andreeva and Medvedev were in exhibition mode with some superb dropshots and in the case of the 16-year-old going head to head with one of the top ATP pros.
Tsitsipas returned it to Andreeva and a superb rally ensued so much so that Medvedev only returned one point as they went back and forth.
But it was Andreeva who produced a superb winner and a fist pump to boot as Tsitsipas retreated from the court after being beaten by the Russian. After being defeated by a man in a bizarre Battle of the Sexes last week in France, Andreeva had bragging rights in this rally.
