Roger Federer has revealed that all four of his children love tennis and have attended camps, with his daughters attending John McEnroe's Academy in East Hampton.
Former World No. 1 Federer was one of the dominant forces in the sport for almost two decades. He has 20 major titles to his name and was at the top of the ATP Ranking for a total of 310 weeks, which is the second-longest amount of time in history.
The Swiss player retired after the Laver Cup in September 2022. Now, twelve months on from this, he has revealed that while he doesn't play much tennis anymore, all four of his children have an interest in the sport.
Federer reveals kids' training
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the 42-year-old admitted that he doesn't pick up a racket much unless he is teaching his children.
"I don't play much tennis anymore, other than with the kids. As a former player, to book a court and get someone to hit with you is a process, so you end up not doing it. On vacation, I just played with our friends in the Hamptons. I'm not super competitive. It's just nice to be out there and then sit on the terrace and let the sweat go a bit," he said.
Federer also revealed that his children attended two prestigious training academies for a few days. While his twin boys went to Rafael Nadal's training academy in Mallorca, his twin daughters attended the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York.
"All four kids love it [tennis]. The girls didn't love it in the beginning but as they get better, they're enjoying it and playing points now. They were up at [John] McEnroe Academy in East Hampton, and the boys were in Mallorca at the [Rafael Nadal] camp for a couple of days," he continued.
The Academy was founded by McEnroe in 2010. The 64-year-old American achieved seven Grand Slam singles titles during his career and is the only male player to have been ranked as No. 1 in singles and doubles simultaneously.
