Carlos Alcaraz has said that he is 'very proud' of his brother Jaime after the youngest Alcaraz sibling won the under-12 National Team Championship for his local club.
At just 20 years old, Alcaraz has already had a highly successful career. Not only is he the world No. 1, he has two Grand Slam titles to his name and is about to begin the defense of his
US Open title in New York.
According to Forbes, the Spaniard is also currently the second-highest earning active tennis player in the world behind Novak Djokovic, receiving an estimated $31.4 million from prize money and off-court factors such as sponsorship deals.
Alcaraz celebrates Jaime's success
Now, Alcaraz's younger brother Jaime, who is just 12 years old, has won the under-12 National Team Championship for his local club. This comes after the youngster won a Rafa Nadal Tour heat in the under-12 category in Madrid earlier this month.
His success in Madrid suggests he takes after his older brother, as Carlos won the tournament seven years ago. The Spaniard also won the under-14 category in 2016.
Jaime announced his latest win on Instagram in Spanish, translating to:
"CHAMPIONS OF SPAIN BY TEAMS @murciaescueladetenis vamooss!!"
Carlos also has two older brothers who have supported him as he plays on the ATP Tour. Last week at the
Cincinnati Open, Carlos got emotional as he expressed his gratitude to his older brother Alvaro who was in the stands.
"I have my brother here as well. It’s great to have you here, supporting me every day. You make me be a better person every day. Learning from you as well. So, thank you. Thank you very much for being with me," he said.
