Chris Evert was awarded the ITF Commitment Award for her long-standing commitment to the Billie Jean King Cup.
The award was created in 2012 as a continuation of the Davis Cup Commitment Award. Recipients of the award must have played in at least 20 ties in the World Group or 40 ties at any other level, such as zone groups.
Due to her outstanding participation with the United States, Chris Evert was announced as the new winner of the award. The news was declared by Billie Jean King herself on Twitter:
“Congratulations to my dear friend @ChrissieEvert on receiving the @ITFTennis Commitment Award, presented to players who competed in a minimum of 20 World Group @BJKCup ties. Chrissie played in 42 ties and won 8 titles,” wrote Billie Jean King.
