Casper Ruud thinks there is not much more for him to prove after reaching three Grand Slam finals, but still wants to achieve his 'dream' of a major title and sees Wimbledon as a 'big goal'.
World No. 4 Casper Ruud has succesfully reached the final of three Grand Slams, but is yet to secure a victory. Following losses to Rafael Nadal at Roland-Garros and Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open last year, Ruud was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the 2023 French Open showpiece.
However, Ruud does not appear deterred. In a recent interview with Eurosport, the Norwegian player stated that whilst 'it stings' to just miss out on a title, he would much rather have lost in three finals than have not got to a final at all.
Looking forward, the 24-year-old has his sights set on Wimbledon, describing it as a 'big goal':
Wimbledon is obviously so big, every time I come there it's an incredible feeling and it feels royal in a way. It's historic. Obviously I want to try to perform well. Wimbledon is a big goal to me.
It's the Grand Slam that the most people around the world have heard about. It's a tournament I watched all my childhood on TV, to perform there is a goal.'

However, in contrast to his successes on the hard and clay courts, Ruud has often found the grass more of a challenge. Overall, he has lost five out of his nine career matches on this surface. Yet, despite this, he seems determined to make a good impression at the tournament, taking place from 26th June to July 16th.
Ruud also expanded on his wider ambitions, especially his excitement for the next half a decade, saying it will be 'very important' and 'very enjoyable' for him, as long as he is able to 'stay healthy'. Whilst he knows he no longer has to prove himself, Ruud is also aware that there is always more work to be done:
I have realised I am doing well but there are still plenty of things that I can improve and become better. I wish to always try to develop as a player.
