An interesting disparity was pointed out between the ATP singles and doubles top 50 players and WTA singles and doubles players.
There has often been a comparison between the two sets of players and whether the competition is equal, especially in terms of the match length.
Twitter account with the name of Juan Ignacio highlighted that so many WTA top 50 singles players also feature in the doubles top-50 players list as well including the likes of America’s Jessica Pegula, fellow American Coco Gauff, Marketa Vondrousova, Barbora KrejciKova, Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova and Brazil Beatriz Haddad Maia.
On the other hand, there is only one men’s singles player who features in both lists and that is Max Purcell.
The 25-year-old is the 70th-ranked player in the ATP singles rankings whereas he is the 44th-ranked in the doubles category.
The tweet also prompted an interesting response from Australia’s tennis star Nick Kyrgios who stated: “Funny this stat didn’t exist last year when I was playing healthy.”
The 28-year-old is currently spending a lengthy time away from the court as he continues to struggle with fitness concerns. It is because of this reason he has not featured in any of the mega-events this year.

Interesting disparity between tours. Players inside the live Top 50 in both singles and doubles: ♀️ 🇺🇸 Pegula 🇺🇸 Gauff 🇨🇿 Vondroušová 🇨🇿 Krejčíková 🇷🇺 Samsonova 🇷🇺 Kudermetova 🇧🇷 Haddad Maia 🇱🇻 Ostapenko 🇧🇪 Mertens 🇺🇦 Kostyuk 🇨🇿 Bouzková 🇺🇸 Parks 🇨🇿 Siniaková ♂️ 🇦🇺 Purcell
