Caroline Wozniacki has been seen working hard to prepare for the Canadian Open as she practices alongside compatriot Holger Rune.
Former world No. 1 Wozniacki is making a comeback to tennis after initially retiring in January 2020 following that year's Australian Open. The Dane then went on to give birth to her first child, her daughter Olivia, in 2021, before welcoming her son James in October 2022.
Wozniacki announced her return in a first-person essay published in Vogue in June of this year, saying that she will begin her comeback in the North American swing.

Training with Rune

Wozniacki recently began her training sessions, and has been spotted at the Monte-Carlo Country Club practicing with her younger compatriot Rune, who is currently world No. 6 in the men's singles ATP rankings.
Rune's sister Alma shared a video of them working together on social media. The 20-year-old is currently coming back from a back injury that forced him to withdraw from the recent Croatia Open in Umag.
Both players are working hard ahead of the Canadian Open which begins on August 7. Wozniacki won the event back in 2010, and will be entering the this year's tournament as a wildcard before competing at the US Open in a few weeks time.

Wozniacki wants to inspire mothers

When speaking about her motivations behind returning to the sport, Wozniacki said she wanted to show mothers that having a career after giving birth is very much a possibility,
"I've talked with a lot of women who gave up on their own dreams because they wanted to be with their families, but somewhere deep down they have this yearning to do something they’re passionate about," she wrote in Vogue, before adding
"I want to prove that to myself and to those women. You can have both: You can be thrilled with your family and with everything at home and still have a career—and be great at it."
Whilst it remains to be seen if Wozniacki's future career in tennis will be as bright as her past one, her return is certainly exciting news for many tennis fans. This excitement was made even greater when she suggested that she wants to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and would like to team up with Rune in the mixed doubles at the event.
