Rafael Nadal has been crowned the Champions of Champions by French newspaper L'Equipe for the fourth time in his career, it has been revealed.
Nadal shared the award with American gymnast Simone Biles with them recognising those who are at the top of their game in the sport.
The Spaniard claimed two Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros and the US Open and had a good season at times and with 513 points defeated F1 driver Lewis Hamilton (413 points), Austrian skier Michael Hirscher (329 points), US swimmer Caeleb Dressel (280 points) and South African rugby player Siya Kolisi.
He equals Roger Federer as a result of winning this award for a fourth time and is one away from equalling Usain Bolt's five titles. As a result he said that he is really pleased to claim this.
“This award means a lot, because it comes from a French newspaper. France is one of the most important countries in my career after Spain. It will be tough to equal Usain Bolt’s record of five titles. I am very happy with my four titles," said Nadal.
