It has been revealed that
Arthur Fils has decided to change coaches after a season of success with Laurent Raymond, moving to Sebastian Grosjean and Sergi Bruguera.
19-year-old Fils has been considered by many fans as an upcoming talent in the sport after achieving strong results this season. He began the year ranked outside of the Top 200, but ended up winning his first
ATP title just a few months later at the Lyon Open.
Fils defeated the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Brandon Nakashima to reach the final, where he downed fourth seed Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. Since then, the French player was selected as part of Team Europe for the Laver Cup in September.
Fils makes move to Gasquet's former coach
Fils began working with Raymond in 2022 and although the partnership has been successful in raising his ranking to World No. 38, he has decided it is time for a change. Thus, he has moved to train under the tutelage of former French player Grosjean and former Spanish player Bruguera.
Bruguera won the French Open in 1993 and 1994. He also coached French player and former World No. 7 Richard Gasquet from February 2014 to September 2017.
Meanwhile, Grosjean reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 2001 and at Wimbledon in 2003 and 2004. He has left his position as captain of the French Davis Cup team in order to work with Fils.
"It's with great emotion but also great excitement that I am getting ready to open this new chapter alongside Arthur Fils," Grosjean said in a press release to the French Tennis Federation (translated from French).
"Arthur Fils is an exceptional player with immense potential and I am convinced that our collaboration will be fruitful," he continued.
