Elena Rybakina has arrived in New York for the US Open. And as always, she’s arrived in style. 🥰
Elena Rybakina has shared some stylish photos of her arriving in New York ahead of the US Open, which begins on August 28.
World No. 4 Rybakina has had a strong season so far. The 2022 Wimbledon champion made it to the Australian Open final in February and picked up two WTA 1000 titles at the Indian Wells and Rome Open respectively.
However, the Kazakhstani No. 1 is yet to secure a second Grand Slam victory and will be hoping to give it her best shot at this year's final major tournament, the US Open.
Rybakina posted a couple of photos of her arriving in New York for the Grand Slam in style. In the first picture, the 24-year-old is seen posing with her suitcase and bags in what appears to be a hotel lobby adorned with chandeliers and a large bouquet of flowers.
In the second, she is walking along a New York street, with large buildings towering in the background. Rybakina captioned the post "Excited to be back in New York" followed by an emoji of the famous Statue of Liberty.
Fans praised the photos in the comments, with many calling her 'Rybaqueen', and wished the player a succesful run at the US Open.
"US Open 2023 Champion," wrote one, followed by a prayer hands emoji.
"Hopefully New York will bring you more health and happiness, and possibly a second Grand Slam title. You got this Elena!" commented another.
Fans will also likely be relieved to see Rybakina relaxing ahead of the Slam after she endured a nightmare schedule at the Canadian Open last week. Most notably, rain delays meant she was playing until 3 am in her quarter-final match against Daria Kasatkina, a three-set battle that went on for three and a half hours.
After the match, Rybakina said she was 'destroyed', and she proceeded to be defeated by Liudmila Samsonova in the semi-finals the next day. Once again rain delays caused that match to be postponed, meaning that if she had won it, she would have been forced to play the final on the same day.
Rybakina then retired from her second-round match at the Cincinnati Open this week, citing injuries.
