Fans were left confused at a bizarre incident that occurred during the clash between Sloane Stephens and Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opening round of the US Open.
2017 US Open champion Stephens faces nineteenth seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opening round of the US Open. At the time of writing, the match is still ongoing and it is still all to play for as the players have one set each.
However, attention was briefly diverted away from the match itself when it was discovered that a crowd member had ordered a takeout from DoorDash, an American food ordering and delivery company.

Fans left bewildered by bizarre incident

The incident happened during the second set as the players were at 4-4. The crowd turned to look at the food courier, known in the company as a Dasher, as they climbed up the stairs to reach the person who'd made the order.
The employee seemed pretty unfazed by the crowd's reaction as they continued up the stands carrying a big red bag of food.
The camera then went back to 30-year-old Stephens who was about to serve as she looked away from the drama in the crowd and continued on with the match.
The Tennis Letter shared a clip of the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption:
"Somebody ordered DoorDash in the Haddad Maia vs. Sloane Stephens match. Look at all the confused faces," followed by a laugh-till-cry emoji.
Fans had a mixed reaction, with some calling it a 'Youtube prank.'
"Yeah this is a prank or some type of set-up because the dude would need tickets to get into the event," wrote one.
"Don't see how one can get into the complex just to make a delivery so I imagine it is from the grounds," commented another.
Meanwhile, another expressing their bewilderment at those ordering the food in the middle of a match.
"Now why would you do this in the middle of the match," they wrote.
However, others praised the professionalism of the courier.
"Kid should be saluted for that delivery," one wrote.
