The ATP Ranking has been updated today, Monday August 28, the same day that the US Open begins in New York.

This week's ATP Ranking will not affect players' seeded positions at the American Grand Slam and a lot of the top-ranked players have not moved as they spent the last week preparing for the major rather than playing at tournaments.

This means that Carlos Alcaraz still holds onto world No. 1, although it will likely be his final week at the top for at least a while. This is because the Spaniard is the defending US Open champion and therefore cannot gain any new points at this year's Slam, even if he wins again.

On the other hand, world No. 2 Novak Djokovic missed the 2022 US Open as he was barred from entering the US at the time because of his unvaccinated status.

This gives him no ranking points to defend here, and his victory over Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Open final last week means that all the Serb has to do is win one match at Flushing Meadows to re-gain the top spot.

Elsewhere, Jiri Lehecka has achieved a career-high as he moves up six places to No. 29 after he finished runner-up at the Winston-Salem Open.

Meanwhile, Borna Coric, who dropped over ten places last week when he failed to defend his Cincinnati Open title, has started to climb back up toward the top 20, currently sitting at No. 23.
