Gael Monfils had an adorably wholesome response to the video of his wife
Elina Svitolina asking if he had started his match during her own round at the
US Open.
Former world No. 6 Monfils went out of the final Grand Slam of the season at Flushing Meadows in the second round. The Frenchman had a good start to the major, defeating Taro Daniel in four sets in his first match, but he was ultimately ousted by eighth seed
Andrey Rublev.
However, his defeat was not without some positive moments, the most notable of which being his wife Svitolina asking about his match while she played against
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the New York major.

The sweet moment occurred during a changeover mid-way through her match. The 28-year-old could be seen asking the chair umpire if Monfils' match had started.
The Ukrainian then resumed play against her opponent, going on to win the match in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. She will face third seed Jessica Pegula in the third round.
During her on-court interview after her win, Svitolina was asked about her inquiries into her husband's match, to which she replied by saying that she "was just trying to get a little motivation from him."
During his post-match press conference, Monfils was then asked if he had seen the video of his wife asking about him. While he replied saying that he hadn't seen it, he revealed that he had also asked the umpire on his court about how Svitolina's match was going.
"I haven’t seen it [...] Me, I asked. It was 5-3 for her in the 3rd set and I think I was down a break, I said to the umpire because I know her ‘be discreet’," he responded with a smile.
"Of course, we both like to know everything’s going good," he added.
