Holger Rune has posted an update following problems with illness and injury, showing a video of him practicing ahead of North-American swing.
World No. 6 Rune has been met with a slight obstacle in what has otherwise been a solid season on the ATP Tour.
The 20-year-old made it to the quarter-finals of the French Open earlier this year, before doing the same at Wimbledon for the first time before being defeated by eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Illness took Rune out of tournament
Unfortunately, Rune's form dropped recently at the Hopman Cup, where he suffered from an illness that hindered his ability to play anywhere near his best.
According to EkstraBladet, Rune spent four days in bed with a fever around the time of the event, and thus playing at all was difficult for him.
Due to this, he withdrew from the Croatia Open in Umag, also citing issues with his back and wrist as another reason.
Rune focussing on North-American swing
Despite these problems, it seems as though things are starting to look up again for the Dane. Posting on social media, he made it clear that he is feeling much better and is looking forward to playing in North America in the run up to the US Open,
"Hi everyone. Monday I had a scan on my back and are now getting various treatments and have started controlled practice and it’s much better than last week. So I continue treatment and hope that I will be fit for fight to compete in Canada. I am hungry to work," he wrote on Twitter.
