Andrey Rublev had a wild night following his victory at the Swedish Open on Sunday, July 23.
World No. 7 Rublev celebrated a convincing win in the final of the
Bastad Open, an
ATP Tour 250 event held in the locality of Bastad, Sweden.
As the second-seeded player at the tournament, he had previously beaten fifth-seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets, before defeating fourth-seed Francisco Cerundolo in his semi-final match.
In the final, he was up against world No. 4 and top-seeded player
Casper Ruud, but Rublev defeated the Norwegian without too much difficulty, taking the win 7-6 (3), 6-0. This meant that the Russian was able to claim his 14th career title.
A night to remember
After the tournament, Rublev went out to a club to celebrate, and certainly seemed to be enjoying his win.
A video was posted on Twitter showing the 25-year-old doing pull-ups off the nightclub's elevated beam structure, while the hit song 'We Are The Champions' by Queen played throughout the building.
Posted by Bastien Fachan, the video was captioned.
"Andrey Rublev in Bastad last night 😅 If you’re not celebrating doing pull-ups off the nightclub’s elevated beam structure while ‘We Are The Champions’ plays in the background, did you really win the event?"
Second win on clay this season
This victory means that Rublev now has two wins on clay this season. His first win was at the Monte-Carlo Masters back in April, where he defeated Denmark's Holger Rune in the final.
Beyond this, he reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the second time in his career, and became a Wimbledon quarterfinalist for the first time, before being defeated by seven-time SW19 champion Novak Djokovic.
