After a superb run at the Miami Open 16-year old Linda Fruhvirova made a winning start in Charleston coming back to win against Ana Konjuh 4-6 6-1 6-3.
Fruhvirtova played some amazing tennis on the slow courts of Miami and she continued doing that in similar conditions at the
Charleston Open. Facing off against former top player Ana Konjuh Fruhvirotva struggled early on or rather Konjuh played rather well. She lost her serve midway in the first set but she failed to get it back as Konjuh saved the only break point she faced.
The 2nd set is where Fruhvirtova finally found her stride as she completely outplayed her opponent en route to a 6-1 2nd set finish. Konjuh did not serve well at all and Fruhvirtova got so many balls back to her that the Croatian went on one of her typical error sprees. The Czech player stayed composed and carried over that momentum into the 2nd set.
Konjuh never quite found her rhythm as she allowed her opponent to take an early lead in the final set. The Croatian played okay in the set but that break points was converted by Fruhvritova and the Czech player never gave it back. Fruhvirtova added another break, later on, to finish off the job with 6-3. Another great win that will help her continue her ascension in the world of tennis.
