Following the conclusion of this summer's US Open, the WTA tour will make a stop in India for the Chennai Open, which will run from September 12-18, 2022.
A WTA 250 event, the Chennai Open will feature several stars who have yet to make a statement this season, in addition to a few that have rediscovered their form. Caroline Garcia belongs in the latter category, as the Frenchwoman is experiencing a resurgence of sorts. The 28-year old is coming off a title run at Cincinnati, and is currently seeded 17th at the US Open, where she is through to the third round.
Joining the top seed are American Alison Riske and Belgian Elise Mertens, both of whom could make deep runs in the tournament. Eugenie Bouchard is also scheduled to compete. as the former Wimbledon runner-up was handed a wildcard entry to the event. The 28-year old Canadian took almost a year off to recover from injury, but failed in her bid to qualify for the 2022 US Open.
The tournament will be making it's debut on the WTA circuit, and features a 32-player singles field alongside a 16-woman doubles draw. Below is the list of entrants.
