Unlike the ATP, the destination of the
WTA Finals was yet to be confirmed but the new home of the tournament will be Fort Worth in Texas with the state-of-the-art Dickies Arena set to host the season ender.
The top eight singles players and doubles teams will be involved in a field currently lead by Iga Swiatek in the singles alongside Ons Jabeur, Simona Halep and Coco Gauff among others with Paula Badosa the last player in the field so far.
It moves from being hosted in Guadalajara which was won by Garbine Muguruza defeating Anett Kontaveit but proved to be the start of a slide for the Spaniard who has not had a great 2022 since.
“The Dickies Arena and the city of Fort Worth has a proven track record of hosting world-class sporting and entertainment events, and we are excited to bring the WTA’s showpiece tournament back to the United States for the first time since 2005,” said Steve Simon, WTA Chairman and CEO.
“This location and venue for the 2022 WTA Finals will provide a fantastic experience for players and fans alike and offer a fitting finale as another exciting season on the Hologic WTA Tour comes to a close.”
