Paula Badosa was dumped out of the Miami Open in the second round by her best friend, Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 6-3 in favour of the World Number Two who had the tragic passing of her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov to contend with but still pulled through.
But amid Badosa's recent injury struggles which have seen her crippled with a bank injury, crying on court and withdrawing more often than not, she has finally got a sustained period of time on court and took to social media afterwards to share her delight.
As well as realising that her return to her best won't happen over night but that baby steps being the name of the game, she has succeeded thus far in her latest run in Miami despite being defeated.
"3 weeks ago I was in a sofa without knowing when I would be able to play again, after that for the first time I was able to play during 8 days in a row since almost a year. I'm happy and proud of it. I know my level is far but the fact that I'm on a court, it's a win. Step by step," said Badosa on X (formerly known as Twitter).
