Alexandrova moved through against Garbine Muguruza in a straight sets victory 6-4, 6-2 in a match which saw the No.5 and No.6 seed face off. She will now have a second opportunity to claim a maiden title.
Her previous experience against Muguruza was not a good one losing 6-2, 6-4 when the Spaniard won Wimbledon 2017 but this time around it was the Russian who claimed it.
Rybakina also powered through with the Kazakh ace defeating Kristyna Pliskova in a 6-2, 7-5 victory to continue a good tournament which saw her defeat Elise Mertens in the Quarter-Finals.
As a result it will be number five seed against number seven seed in China and for Rybakina it will be a chance to win a second title after winning the Bucharest Open last July on Clay. It will be a second opportunity for her to win a hard court title after losing to Rebecca Peterson in the Jiangxi Open in September as she aims to continue some of her form which saw her debut in the Top 50 last year.
