America’s
Amanda Anisimova has revealed that she is ‘feeling
good’ after upsetting the world number 14 Liudmila Samsonova in the Australian
Open first-round clash.
The first Grand Slam of the year has begun on Sunday where
players from all over the world are participating and showcasing their talent
at the highest level.
Anisimova, who recently made a return to professional tennis
after taking an indefinite break from the sport last year citing mental health concerns,
stunned Samsonova in the opening round fixture with a thumping win in the straight
set with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Talking about it after the match, the 22-year-old revealed
that she is ‘feeling good’ to return to the court and also expressed eagerness
about the upcoming challenges.
"I'm here and feeling good, so we made it," she
said. "I'm just here for the journey right now and seeing how much I can
progress. The most important thing is that I feel a lot more refreshed. I'm
enjoying practising. I'm enjoying every second that I'm out there," she
said.
"Even when I was down today, I was still just enjoying
the challenge. Yeah, I'm just happy with how I feel coming back. I feel like I
was very burned out while I was playing, and that really wasn't a nice feeling.
Being able to just reset is really nice."
