The ranked number 6 decided it was time to work with a specialist to help her with her difficulties serving. Within 8 months the Belarusian star accumulated over 300 double faults meaning she was getting an average of 8 double faults per match.
At the Western and Southern open she made 29 double faults, it was after this she thought she should see a specialist to improve on her serve.
Whilst speaking to reporters last week Sabalenka revealed that she is working with a specialist to improve in this department of her game. She also confirmed that she is still working with her current coach Anton Dubrov at the same time as her new introduction.
2I changed a lot on my serve, I wouldn’t say the technique, I just worked with a biomechanic guy who is really good. He’s helping me as a coach with my serve, and we are working a lot on my serve and my game. So I think that’s why I kind of kept playing better.” - quoted by Tennis Now.
Since her last title at the Madrid open in 2021 she thought it was time to make an addition to her team in order to help her get back into title winning ways.
Last time out in the Southern and Western Open she lost in the semi finals to the eventual winner Caroline Garcia. Sabalenka has so far reached two tournament finals this season in Stuttgart and Rosmalen. However she has so far she has only managed to get as far as the 3rd round of the French Open and 4th round in Australian Open. Failing to reach a Grand Slam final this season.
Aryna Sabalenka will be hoping the hard work with the specialist will pay off at the
US Open as she will try and do better than her semi final loss last year.
