Belinda Bencic is back to winning ways with a strong win over Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-3 6-2 to move on at the Ostrava Open.
It was the first match for Bencic at the Ostrava Open and the Swiss player adapted very well to the unusual slow conditions for indoor hard courts. Sara Sorribes Tormo is a tricky player that sends a lot of balls back especially in slower conditions but Bencic handled that fairly well. She played with composure and waited for her chance and once it came she converted it clinically.
Sorribes Tormo applied solid pressure on Bencic breaking her once in the first set while having 3 break points in total. The problem for the Spanish player was the inability to win her own service game as she surrendered her serve 3 times overall to win the opening set with 6-3.
The 2nd set was even more impressive from Bencic who served better which allowed her to win points on her own serve easier than in the first set. Sorribes Tormo bettered her serving in the 2nd set as well but the Spaniard was simply a sitting duck for Bencic who attacked her serve at every opportunity.
The Spanish player does not possess a strong serve and that proved troublesome to overcome. She faced 5 break points, saved two but lost her serve three times for an easy 2-6 2nd set defeat. A good win for Bencic who moves on at the strong tennis event in Ostrava.
