Bianca Andreescu has not played since August 2023 nursing a back injury, but is optimistic of returning in the coming weeks at BNP Paribas Open
Indian Wells albeit a mixed announcement with the former US Open champion admitting that she is not yet 100%.
The 23-year-old took the tennis world by storm back in 2019 when she won Indian Wells, Canadian Open and the US Open and emerged as one of the finest tennis talents of that period. But she struggled to maintain that form in the years that followed mainly due to constant injury setbacks.
After a long-time of being on and off court, she started to show signs in 2023 that she was heading back towards her best, but a horrific ankle injury at the Miami Open derailed that train for the Canadian. She recovered miraculously and played until August where she cut her season short.
She was recently in attendance at the NHL All Star Game in Toronto and was quizzed by TSN about her plans to return to the tour with a few social media posts and confirming that she would not play the Australian Open aside, there has been radio silence until now.
"It's getting there. It's not 100%, but I'm really hoping that I can play Indian Wells", Andreescu said to TSN.
She also said that she has been trying her best "A lot of visualization work, meditation, to try to speed up the recovery time. Obviously, with something like this, you can't really speed up anything up, other than rest, so that's what I've been doing,"
