Former US Open champion
Bianca Andreescu is set to make her debut at the
Internationaux de Strasbourg this month, as she prepares to make a title run at
Roland Garros.
The World No.6 joins a strong field that includes 2020 Strasbourg runner-up Elena Rybakina, American teenager Coco Gauff and France's Caroline Garcia. The WTA 250 event is slated to kick off on May 23rd, with the French Open occurring soon afterwards.
Andreescu tested positive for Covid-19 and was forced to withdraw from the Mutua Madrid Open, although she is currently scheduled to participate at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome next week.
The Canadian star is yet to show what she can do on clay, as she has played just one tour-level main draw match in her career, which came in the first round of 2019 Roland Garros. The 21 year-old defeated Marie Bouzkova, before withdrawing from the tournament due to injury.
