Elena
Rybakina stayed in Miami for a few days of rest with her sister after her
defeat in the 2024
Miami Open final. The 2022 Wimbledon champion lost the
tournament final to
Danielle Collins 7-5, 6-3 after an impeccable campaign.
The Kazakh tennis player ended up as runner-up for the
second consecutive year, as she fell to Petra Kvitova (7-6, 6-2) the previous
year. During this edition, Rybakina didn't play her best tennis throughout the
tournament, and at times, she seemed to struggle physically. However, she
managed to reach the title match.
The world No. 4 came into the tournament after withdrawing
from Indian Wells and the Dubai Open in February of this year, so she
acknowledged from the start that she wasn't at 100%. Additionally, Rybakina
played several of her matches in the evening, and considering that four of her
five wins were in three sets, she criticized the lack of rest she had during
the two weeks at the Miami Open.
As a result, Rybakina decided to take a couple of days
before leaving Florida and shared a photo with her sister enjoying the beaches.
The 24-year-old tennis player will begin the European clay season in the week
of April 15th, where she will compete in the WTA 500 Stuttgart Open. She will
share the main draw with 9 top-10 players, with the exception of Maria Sakkari.
