Emma Raducanu has announced the tournament where she will make her return after overcoming another injury. The 2021 US Open champion last played a month ago at the WTA 250 Korea Open, where she reached the quarter-finals but had to retire during her match against Daria Kasatkina.
The Brit had secured solid wins against Peyton Stearns and Yue Yuan, both in straight sets, before facing the Russian top seed. Kasatkina dominated a match in which Raducanu suffered a foot injury, forcing her to retire after losing the first set 1-6.

Raducanu joins big names for her long-awaited return

It was expected that the 21-year-old would compete in the WTA 1000 China Open and Wuhan Open (where she would have had to go through the qualifiers to reach the main draw), but she ultimately decided to withdraw from both. She later pulled out of the WTA 500 Ningbo Open and Guangzhou Open, frustrating her end-of-season schedule.
However, the season isn't over yet for Raducanu, as she recently announced her return at the final tournament of the Asian Swing. The Brit will play the WTA 250 Hong Kong Open, which will feature an interesting draw for a tournament of this category.
“Hello everyone, it’s Emma Raducanu here,” Raducanu said. “I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open.”

“It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city,” the former world No. 10 added. “So I’m very much looking forward to coming and I hope to see you all there in October.”
Raducanu will join stars such as Danielle Collins (No. 9), Diana Shnaider (No. 16), Leylah Fernandez (No. 28), and Katie Boulter (No. 34). Additionally, there will be a couple of interesting wildcards, including former world No. 1s Naomi Osaka (No. 73) and Simona Halep (No. 876).
The tournament runs from 28 October to 2 November, with a 32-player draw and a total prize money of $661,585 ($100,640 for the champion).
